Volunteer Organizations
Kalama has a strong community spirit with several active volunteer groups, all dedicated to a better Kalama and always willing to lend a helping hand where needed.
The Kalama VFW Post 10435 will help you find the right connection for any Veteran benefit such as medicine, education, housing. Contact person is Helen Reid 360-673-1758.
The GFWC Amalak Womens’ Club is a non-profit organizational group providing scholarships, helps with the food bank, offers swimming lessons and many other youth activities, actively promotes and is involved in beautification of Kalama, and does community service. Wherever there is a need, the Amalak-ladies are always available to lend a helping hand. They can be reached at 360-673-2020, Carol Day.
As part of an international organization, Kalama Lions Club helps with sight and hearing, the food bank and where ever is needed in the community. Their contact person is Monte Ward at 360-673-5434.
F.O.L.K. – Friends of the Library of Kalama, is dedicated to buying books and providing supplies for the library, the distribution of books to all court related facilities and camp grounds, as well as offering educational help. They can be reached at 360-673-2169 Suzie Richards.
The Kalama Community Fair is putting on the Kalama Fair each year which includes a Parade, River to River Run/Walk/Bike, 4H, Kids Activities, Beer Garden, live music and much more. Their goal is to promote youth education, self sufficiently, community service and giving both adults and youth the opportunity to be accomplish something to be proud of. Kalama’s Boys Scouts is providing tools for youth to take on responsibilities and training them in many different aspects to ready them for adulthood. They also learn camping skills and provide community service to churches. They can be contacted at besthoothoot@gmail.com
The Girls Scouts are also taught many skills to become a responsible adult as well as camping skills without forgetting to have fun while doing it. The older scouts are offered the option for international travels. They can be reached at 360-423-3800.
The Garden Club of Kalama is a group of local people wanting to have fun, while providing education, field trips, and help with gardening issues both at the community garden plots and at private gardens, all the while providing beautification of the city of Kalama. The Kalama PTO is active in supporting teachers, students and the schools in any needs that might arise. They can be reached through the Kalama School District 360-673-5207 or www.kalama.k12.wa.us.
Envision Kalama. Established by a group of community members in 2007 as an outgrow of the Kalama Community Action Plan, Envision Kalama is dedicated to the betterment of Kalama through a discussion forum, communication, and coordination of efforts by entities working together to enhance liveability. This non-profit organization focus on improving the quality of life in Kalama and can be reached at 360-673-5310.
